Warm Ones in their natural habitat |
Things have seemed pretty quiet on the Warm Ones front ever since they released their Lena EP at the beginning of the year, so hopefully they're busy cooking up some more new tunes. For now, check out one of their always-fun live sets tonight, also with Sun Hotel, The Great American Canyon Band, The Mighty Morphine and Flower Rangers.
Wednesday, October 3rd: Chain and the Gang, Outer Minds at the Burlington (9 p.m., 21+, $10)
Ian Svenonious's latest band will stop in town as part of their current tour. You can prep by checking out some of their tunes on Bandcamp.
Thursday, October 4th: Michael Chapman, O.W.L., The Singleman Affair at Hideout (9 PM, 21+, $10)
If you're not familiar with the long musical history of British folk artist Michael Chapman, which began in the 1960s, read up and then head to Hideout Thursday night for a chance to catch him live.
Friday, October 5th: Crocodiles, Punks on Mars, Michael Lux and the Bad Sons at Subterranean (9:30 PM, 17+, $10)
The latest album from San Diego's Crocodiles, Endless Flowers, made it clear they are a band worthy of the attention they've been getting. It's an album's worth of addictive tunes powered up with a fuzzy blast (fitting that frontman Brandon Welchez is married to Dum Dum Girls' Dee Dee).
Saturday, October 6th: Dark Dark Dark, Angel Olsen at Schubas (9 PM, $5)
Today, Minneapolis-based Dark Dark Dark released their newest album Who Needs Who. That gives you a perfect amount of time to get familiar with the songs before they're in town Saturday.
Sunday, October 7th: William Elliot Whitmore, Samantha Crain at Bottom Lounge (9 PM, 17+, $15)
With just a banjo and a bass drum, Iowa-born William Elliot Whitmore has garnered enough acclaim to tour with the likes of the Pogues, Lucero and Frank Turner. On Sunday, you can catch him in a headlining slot.
Monday, October 8th: Running, Many Places at the Whistler (9:30 PM, 21+, FREE)
It's CHIRP night! This month the non-profit radio station-sponsored fundraiser will feature Running and Many Places, the former of which you can get a sense of from this previous WCR live review (spoiler: the words "banshee's howl" were used). As for Many Places, we've also got you covered in the form of this record review.
