A few Chicago music news bites

  • West Town's West Fest, set for July 7th and 8th, has released its full music lineup. Included are The Black Lips, Mates of State, Flosstradamus, Derrick Carter, Crooked Fingers, and Pet Lions, among others. You can see the full list here.
  • Lollapalooza has revealed its schedule, which means you can now start working out all the tough decisions (actually, to me the choices look pretty clear-cut this year, but your opinion may differ).
  • Chicago shoegazers Airiel are back with their first new release since 2007 in the form of an EP titled Kid Games. You can currently grab one of the tracks, "Flashlight Tag," for free download via Insound.
  • In yet more festival news ('tis the season), Wicker Park Fest has also released its full music lineup, which includes the likes of Cursive, The Drums, Lucero, Kill Hannah, Joe Pug, Miniature Tigers, Andrew Jackson Jihad and many others. The entire lineup is up here.
  • A few months ago we let you know about Fort Frances covering Beck, and this week the band released their latest cover song in their "As told by..." series. This time they chose Daniel Johnston's "Mind Movies" from his 2009 Is and Always Was. You can download it for free on the band's Facebook page.
