A few Chicago music news bites

  • In honor of this weekend's electronic-focused Wavefront Music Festival, Gapers Block presents us with "10 things to ponder" while at the fest. 
  • Chicago's ever-entertaining Americana rockers Dastardly have given their raucous track "Dirtnap" the video treatment. Take a look here.
  • We've let you know about past Schubas Monday night residencies with bands such as The Kickback and Clip Art, and now it's The Sham Band's turn. Starting on July 9th, the band will play four Monday night shows throughout the month. Other bands slated to join them include Archie Powell & the Exports, Derek Nelson & the Musicians, Elephant Gun & more. Additional details here.
  • Chicago Mixtape interviewed Ben Taylor, bassist of JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, about what's going on with the band as well as a special tribute show at Lincoln Hall that Ben is planning for MCA/Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys. Listen here.
  • The Smashing Pumpkins' James Iha has a new solo record set for release. The album, titled Look to the Sky, is out September 18th, but you can preview it now with the track "To Who Knows Where." Take a listen below.
