Miles Nielsen Daytrotter session

Rockford-born singer-songwriter Miles Nielsen might have made his CD debut this year, but he's no stranger to a musician's life. As the son of Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, he grew up traveling across the country with the touring band. In the midst of promoting his first record, Miles, Nielsen recently stopped by the Daytrotter studios in Rock Island to record some tunes for free download on the site, which went live today.

The session includes takes on three songs from Miles - "A Festival," "The Crown" and "Wine" - as well as an unreleased song, "Rusted Hearts."

Nielsen has two Illinois dates coming up this month: October 16 at Kryptonite in Rockford and October 22 at the Red Herring in Champaign.
